My design is rooted in sustainable practice and craftsmanship, exploring ways flowers can be used beyond the vase. Since beginning preparations for the show last year, I have grown many of the flowers from seed and incorporated them throughout the design in a variety of forms, such as dehydrated, pressed for culinary use, made into confetti, transformed into natural dyes for the cushions, and used to create cyanotype printed artwork.
Strawberry plants have been propagated from runners and grown on especially for the show, alongside Nasturtiums grown from seed, adding an edible and seasonal element to the tablescape. Fresh seasonal flowers grown by myself, alongside blooms sourced from a local flower farmer, bringing the tablescape to life and celebrate the beauty of British-grown flowers and seasonal abundance.
